Ok. Wow that seems to be all i've got tonight. Seriously. "I'm just a painter, and i'm drawing a blank". Yep. I'm wondering why i'm even writing this. (you're probably wondering why you're even reading this.) Hmm. I like Billy Joel. I'm not afraid to admit it. He writes songs that are, real, you know, and he does have an amazing voice. :-P Or at least he did. I watched a concert of his tonight on WTVI. It was from the seventies, so his hair was amazing, and he didn't look all that much older than i am now. People loved him though. I don't think they loved him because of voice, or his piano playing ability, or his music. I think people loved him because he was real, (or at least seemed to be). His songs spoke to people where they were. He didn't write songs with deep, gospel-centered truth. He didn't write those songs. He wrote about life. The Common Human Experience. Nothing fancy. But people understood it. I like that. Billy has a gift. Not just a gift musically or vocally. I think he had a gift in, oddly enough... communication. He talked about things that were true and real for everybody, brought some common ground. (and sold records) I think i'm talking about this for several reasons. #1: i have "Piano Man" stuck in my head. #2: I just watched a concert of his. #3 I think this relates to what i seem to be stuck on lately: not being fake. So many times it seems one of the reasons people can't and won't "take their masks off" and stop the Stained Glass Masquerade is because they can't see any common ground between them and everybody else. This society and culture has polluted everyone's thinking nowadays with "you're special and unique" and "there's no one else quite like you!" This is true and all but we seem to lose track of the fact that we are all alike in many more ways than we think. This is especially true of Christians. We are unified by Christ!! I think we should finally start acting like His Church and start helping people the way we know how, except this time without painted smiles on our faces. It wouldn't kill us to genuinely care and love someone else like Christ loves us. We have more in common with each other than we think. In a weird way, i think Billy Joel proved that :-P
*POSTED LATER
Alright so i'm not sure if that made any kind of sense, it's kind of a strange post and you might not infer what i tried to imply. Sorry. Anywho...
